Prayer

Jesus was a man of prayer who would often take himself to a lonely place to spend time by himself in reflection and prayer. These were more than likely to be lonely because they were the kind of places to which few people frequented. They may well have been arid, rocky, isolated places. But they were the only places he could go where he wouldn't be disturbed.

Before I begin writing about prayer I'm firstly going to say something about making the sign of the cross whilst saying "In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. This is a very important prayer and many people just whizz through it without thought. Stop. Do it slowly and think about it. You're blessing yourself and reminding yourself that you're a Christian. If you can, go down on one knee and make the sign of the cross over yourself. This is a way of reverencing the presence of Almighty God. It's an act of acknowledgement that you have been saved by the cross of Christ. You're showing that you believe that God has dominion over you and that you belong to him.

It's also your protection.

The prayer below is extremely powerful. But it's not something you say occasionally. It's to be used often; daily if possible. The reason for this is because God says 'be constant in prayer'. Regular prayer is a type of fortification which the enemy finds difficult to penetrate. Said daily, the prayer below is rather like us constantly mortar shelling the enemy whilst building up defences. It eventually clears an area because demons can't stand constant prayer. If you want to guard yourself then start erecting prayer walls. The Rosary (which contains the deliverance prayer 'the Our Father'), other deliverance prayers, the psalms and the Divine Office (otherwise the known as the Liturgy of the Hours) are an absolute requirement for a peaceful spiritual life.

Shekinah Ministries 2 Chron. 5:13-14

(A warfare prayer)

To be prayed before the start of each day

Heavenly Father, I worship and praise you, I cover myself with the blood of Jesus, for my family, my finances, my home, my spirit, soul and body. I surrender myself completely in every area of my life to you. I take a stand against all the workings of the Devil that would hinder me and my family from best serving you. I address myself only to the true and living God, and refuse any involvement of the Devil in my prayer. Satan, I command you and all your demon forces of darkness, in the name of Jesus Christ, to leave my presence. I bring The Blood of Jesus Christ between you and my family, my home, my finances, my spirit, my soul and my body. I declare therefore that the Devil and his wicked spirits are subject to me, in the name of Jesus Christ.

Furthermore, in my life today, I destroy and tear down all the strongholds of Satan and smash all the plans of the devil against my mind, and I surrender my mind to you Blessed Holy Spirit. I affirm, Heavenly Father, that you have not given me the spirit of fear, but of power, love, and sound mind. (2 Tim 1:7). Therefore I resist the spirit of fear in the name of Jesus and I refuse to worry because I have authority and power over all the darts of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt me (Luke 10:19). I claim complete and absolute victory over all the forces of darkness in the name of Jesus and I bind the Devil and command him to loose my peace, loose my joy, loose my prosperity, and every member of my family, in the name of Jesus, for the Glory of God, and by faith I consider it done.

I break and smash the strongholds of Satan formed against my emotions today, and I give my emotions to you Blessed Holy Spirit. I destroy the strongholds of Satan against my body today, and I give my body to you Blessed Holy Spirit realising that my body is a temple of the Holy Ghost (1 Cor 3 16:17. 1 Cor 6 19:20). Again I cover myself with the blood of Jesus and pray that the Holy Spirit would bring all the workings of the Crucifixion, all the workings of the Resurrection, all the workings of the Ascension of the Lord Jesus Christ into my life today.

I surrender my life and my possessions to you Lord. I refuse to worry or to be discontented in the name of Jesus. I will not hate, I will not envy, or show any type of bitterness towards my brothers, my sisters, my family, my friends, any of God’s creation, or my enemies, but I will love them with the love of God, shed abroad in my heart by the Holy Ghost (Rom. 5:5).

Open my eyes and show me the areas of my life that do not please you, and give me the strength, grace and wisdom to acknowledge any sin that would prevent our close relationship and fellowship. Work in me to cleanse me from all ground that would give ground to the Devil to have a foothold against me. I claim in every way the victory of the cross over all satanic forces in my life. I pray in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Saviour, with thanksgiving and I welcome all the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

The Rosary is a very powerful prayer. Hell hates it because it's the story of our salvation. Satan can't stand it because it's a constant reminder of what Gabriel said to Mary at the Annunciation. He hates our Blessed Lady because of her holy purity and the fact that it was through her that Jesus came into the world. Always bear in mind that he bears her genes and that they truly are mother and son.

The time for working miracles was to be after Jesus's baptism in the Jordan but Mary hastened it when she asked him to provide wine when they ran out at the wedding in Cana. Mary is still the mother of Christ in Heaven. She is Queen of Heaven. It was to her that Gabriel knelt. In that moment he made her his queen. This is one of the things Mary pondered in her heart. Who was she to whom an Archangel would kneel.

Satan was jealous of Jesus and Mary's relationship.  He still is. And Jesus can refuse her nothing.

Mary truly is the mother of God because she is mother to the God incarnate. To deny this is to deny Jesus's divinity. The church honours our Blessed Lady as the Mother of God and has crowned her its queen. We know we may ask of her anything we wish and she will petition her son.

The following is an extremely powerful prayer.

Most Beautiful Flower of Mount Carmel,

Fruitful Vine, Splendour of Heaven, Blessed

Mother of the Son of God, Immaculate

Virgin, assist me in my necessity. O Star of

the Sea, help me and show me herein you

are my Mother. O Holy Mary, Mother of

God, Queen of Heaven and Earth, I

humbly beseech you from the bottom

of my heart to succour me in my necessities.

There are none that can withstand your

power. O Mary conceived without sin,

pray for us who have recourse to thee (3 times).

Holy Mother Mary, I place these causes in your

hands (3 times).

Prayer for priests

O Jesus, our great High Priest, hear my humble prayers on behalf of your priests. Give them a deep faith, a bright and firm hope and a burning love which will ever increase in the course of their priestly lives.

In their loneliness, comfort them. In their sorrows, strengthen them. In their frustrations, point out to them that it is through suffering that the soul is purified, and show them that they are needed by the Church; they are needed by souls; they are needed for the work of redemption.

O loving Mother Mary, Mother of Priests, take to your immaculate heart your sons who are close to you because of their priestly ordination and because of the power which they have received to carry on the work of Christ in a world which needs them so much. Be their comfort, be their joy, be their strength, and especially help them to live and to defend the ideals of consecrated celibacy.

Prayer to Saint Lucy

Saint Lucy, whose name signifies light. By the light of faith which God bestowed upon you, increase and preserve this light in my soul so that I may avoid evil, be zealous in the performance of good works, and abhor nothing so much as the blindness and the darkness of evil and of sin.

Lord, teach me to be generous.

Teach me to serve you as you deserve;
to give and not to count the cost,
to fight and not to heed the wounds,
to toil and not to seek for rest,
to labour and not to ask for reward,
save that of knowing that I do your will. Amen.
